truck
Brandon k asked:

I have a 1994 Dodge dakota catering truck conversion with 126,000 miles on it. We take realtivley good care of it. We get oil changes every three months etc… It has a v6 engine. We really only make short trips with it, we never really take it on the highway. Actually i dont think its ever been on the highway.

Thanks

Not being on the highway is not necessarily a good thing. Stop and go trips are very hard on an engine. Run it on the highway every now and then. 126,000 miles is not a lot. If there are no major problems noted and you do keep after it and run it on the highway at least once a week, there is no reason it shouldn’t last you nouther 100,000 or more.

dodge has had lots of problems out of that years transmissions. i would be very maint. concious about that also. but all in all, if you take care of your truck, it should last a long time. find a dodge forum on the net, you can find tons of info about your truck, and people can help you identify a problem before it breaks down on you. forums are a good place to learn more about your vehicle

You shouldn’t drive your vehicle unless it has good brakes, and while you are at it you should learn the difference between brakes and breaks. Have a compression check or better yet a cylinder leakdown test to see how worn the rings and valves are. Given the driving style and the fact that the vehicle is not being driven without a load at any time I would be surprised if it lasted much beyond 200,000 miles, if it lasts that long.
